Watch: Akeal Hosein emulates Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebration in BBL

One of the fine talents from West Indies, Akeal Hosein made his debut in the BBL for the Melbourne Renegades. The left-arm spinner took the new-ball and was quite impressive throughout his spell. He conceded just 15 runs and picked up three wickets to ensure his side managed to defend the total.

Hosein who bowled the first over of the innings, completed a caught and bowled dismissal to send back Max Bryant early. In his second over, Josh Brown tried to sweep him in the deep square leg area and was caught by Kane Richardson. The third wicket was the most relishing one for Hosein as he bowled the set batter Jimmy Peirson through his defences.

When Hosein picked up the first wicket, he was pointing the fingers above the sky in a subdued celebration. When asked about it, Hosein mentioned he dedicated it to footballer Cristiano Ronaldo

“I told him (Russell) that celebration was for Cristiano Ronaldo. That’s his celebration and that one was for him,” Hosein told in the post-match conference.

Happy to contribute for my team and get over the line: Akeal Hossein

Further, Hosein highlighted the different phases in the game that Melbourne Renegades were able to win and was delighted with his contribution in the game.

“We batted well in middle phases. I thought we got wickets in crucial moments as well. And just happy to contribute for my team and get over the line,” he added.
